About me

Biography

SugarBus is an Angolan dance music producer, podcaster, and DJ who initially worked as a kuduro producer (kuduro is the main Angolan dance music genre).

Previously, his artistic name in Angola was DJ TIURU (2006-2008), where he worked as a kuduro beat maker and audio recording technician. He then decided to move to Brazil in 2008, where he transitioned to house music, influenced by Bob Sinclair, Axwell, and various tracks from Defected Records between 2006 and 2008. Subsequently, he adopted his current project, changing his artistic name to SugarBus.

In 2014, he released his first official song, “Crazy for Africa,” featuring Leticia Cerqueira, at Moblack Records (the best Afro House label in 2022). This release was the result of a collaboration he undertook with DJ Mandas and DJ Dário in 2012.

In 2019, he delved deeper into remixing tracks from his references in the dance music scene. His first remix was of Danny Tenaglia's original song “Music is the Answer,” featuring Celeda. At the same time, he was also releasing his own original anthems. In 2022, he contacted the Brandy team and was granted permission to remix the classic Brandy anthem “I Wanna Be Down,” which was well-received by the audience on Spotify.
